Peek at Our Week

We started our week with some colour-mixing using coffee filters and crayola markers

We measured out the length of a real-life-sized polar bear (2.5 m - 3m tall on hind legs)
We also measured ourselves against it

We learned about 4 types of penguins and started with a penguin sort.  We learned about the 'manchot jugulaire' (Chinstrap penguin), the 'gorfou sauteur' (Rockhopper penguin), the 'manchot empereur' (Emperor penguin), and the 'manchot adélie' (Adelie penguin).  Here we are trying to find our penguin family.  Nineteen kindergartners waddling in all directions is pretty adorable.

We noticed earlier in the week that someone was playing pranks on us.  The kids suspected it was a leprechaun.  On Thursday our suspicions were confirmed when a bunch of crazy things happened.  First, the cups we decorated for our celebration were shrunken and turned into little hats!

Then we noticed that the SmartBoard had turned green.

Someone had been playing on our carpet and left a big mess!

We decided we'd had enough!  We set some traps and made gold coins to entice him

When we came back, the traps were knocked around, all of the gold coins were gone and there were a whole bunch of new pranks.  Our backpacks were in the igloo, our gummy bears had turned green, the toilet water was green and there were chocolate gold coins everywhere for us to find.  It was so much fun.
